I started in cyber security, and a lot of that thinking came with me: look for the weak point, assume the user will do the unexpected, and never trust a happy path you haven't tested.
what pulled me toward ui/ux was the other side of the same problem. security asks how a system fails; design asks how a person feels while using it. i wanted to spend my day on the second question.
the switch wasn't a clean break — it was months of figma practice files, small case studies, and shipping things badly until they got better.
i wrote about the whole career shift on linkedin, including what i'd tell someone thinking about the same move. visit the post to read it.
